I creative directed the new EP campaign for British Synth Pop artist NZCA Lines’ “Universal Heartbreak” and separately produced and directed the music video for the title track “Universal Heartbreak”.
The piece was really inspired by Nan Goldin’s photographs, especially “Ballad of Sexual Dependency”, and separately by Pre-Raphaelite paintings, specifically Henry Wallis’s “The Death of Chatterton”. Also 90s luxury fashion ads of sad, sexy models. For the exterior NYC shots the intro sequence to “Manhattan” was my main inspiration; So, lots of 1990s nostalgia at play.
I was after a nostalgic melancholy and wanted the video to feel like u were intruding on an intimate moment. I wanted that feeling of looking at an old printed photo of you and your friends, or an ex lover, and having to like, grasp at your chest because the emotion is too much.

VISUAL ARTS
I was commissioned by Art21 to create a short documentary about Dominican Multidisciplinary Artist Joiri Minaya for their “New York Close Up” series.
Shot in between DR and NY the histories, realities, and fantasies of the Dominican Republic and the wider Caribbean are explored, exposed, and subverted as Minaya seeks to control her own representation and visibility.
Joiri’s work is very layered visually and conceptually and I always envisioned some parts of this film edited in a similarly graphic layered style, as a conceptual nod to her work.
